National Center for Education Statistics

National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) is the only nationally representative continuing assessment of what America's students know and can do in various subject areas. Since 1969, NAEP has periodically assessed students in grades 4, 8, and 12 in reading, mathematics, science, writing, history, geography, the arts, and other fields. Due to the restricted-use data held in the NAEP database, CDS2 drafted a security plan and was granted a restricted-use data license for use on NAEP and any other future NCES trainings. The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) conducted this NAEP Database Training Seminar to provide education data analysts and researchers with a deeper understanding of NAEP, and to provide them with hands-on experience exploring and analyzing one of the most comprehensive education resources in the nation.

CDS2 managed all aspects of the planning process for the NAEP Database Training Seminar--we developed a seminar announcement for the NCES website, tracked registration through the NCES website, notified registrants as they were selected to participate in the meeting, and then coordinated travel and hotel arrangements for participants and other attendees. We also managed the site selection, executed contract negotiations with hotels and other vendors, designed and produced meeting materials, and provided on-site conference support. We collected evaluation data from attendees and provided a post-conference report to NCES that summarized the demographics and other aspects of the seminar.
